Writing Assignments

When I first saw this picture I fell in love with it because this picture is very spontaneous! I like it because everybody in the picture looks happy, and even though I am unable to see the main character’s faces it is evident that they were happy too and they obviously did not care about what the people surrounding them might think. The guy seems that he is holding the girl hard (in a “not letting go” manly aspect) and since she in not showing any resistance we know that he is not hurting her. This picture evokes a feeling of a very still intimate passion yet it is not sexual in content. The couple is certainly living the moment; I think the photograph was sneaky enough to not even disturb the people around which makes this picture extremely natural. My final thoughts for this picture are that it is another happy day in America.

I normally do not like pictures that contain polar bears or any other animal, because I believe these animals get annoyed by all the paparazzi that are around them all the time.  However I think this picture is hilarious, this polar bear was certainly tired of the photographer taking pictures and intruding into its private space in nature that it took its tripod like saying  “Oh, hell no, no more!” I can totally picture the photographer’s face to see one of their babies (the tripod) being taken by his or her art. Art wise, I think this picture has motion, which can be seen in the waves produced by the sea, and the bear itself walking away with the tripod. This picture is well balanced with most of the information at the left side of the picture but with the movement going the opposite side.  This picture totally made me laugh the first time I saw it.

Critique :)

The color pop is on the meters (green and red), I believe that the colors are an essential part of the picture. The dark shades balance the color and lights, however I believe the picture is a little over exposed (right side of picture) so if I was to take the image I would shoot it with a higher shutter speed to get the yellow light sharper. My first tough when I see this picture is “accelerate”.

Clearly, the red color is the one intended for this picture. This color does make sense in this picture; otherwise the picture will have light but not that burning feeling.  The composition is balanced because the reds are “redder” on the left side and hot pinkish on the right side.  I believe this picture is well exposed. If I were to take the picture I would find a way to remove the object that is on the left lower corner. Overall this picture looks like if it was on fire.

All colors in the craft are equally popping; the colors do make sense because it gives the picture that 3D sense. This picture is well balanced to my eye, inside the craft I can detect a darker shade of colors, with the outside being bright, and a bright/dull wall in the background with a white colorless flooring.  The picture is well exposed, and I don’t think I would change anything on this image. This picture kind of evokes a childish mood, because the colors and the craft itself remind me of kindergarten. Overall, I believe this is a good picture.

The color pop is on the three middle ducks. The colors make the viewer look away to the left and again back to the middle. This picture is well exposed, because the darker colors with the natural colors create a natural feeling. I would not change anything of this picture. I really love the water splashes around the three more colorful ducks, it gives it a sense of freshness to the already stated natural feeling.

The color pop is in the shoelaces contrasting with the black tennis shoe.  I don’t really see the story on the shoelaces, however the background picks up the image composition. The composition is not very well balanced (again the shoelaces are little overwhelming on the warmth color of the floors). If I were to take the picture I would choose a different color to contrast with the background, perhaps just the shoelace without the black. Overall feeling of this picture is shifting back and forth of crazy black and green neon colors to pretty and nice colors.

The color in this picture is the green, and the color does make sense in this composition. The composition is well balanced, because the green is interrupted by a shadow in towards the right side of the picture. I believe the picture is well exposed as well, I do not see a dark dark or a light light but only transition colors. My first thought of this picture is a horror movie when something bad is about to happen and the sky gets cloudy, however this is not a sky. Overall feeling nostalgic and scary.

The color pop is in the blue truck against the sky blue. The color makes sense because it creates a near/far view of the image.  The composition is balanced; there is enough blue but not overwhelming. In addition the light post and the gray colored truck gives it the extra shade to the picture. Picture is well exposed, there is not glare even though is an outside picture and with a lot of possible reflection of light. If I were to take the picture I would cut the white truck. This picture is fresh and it makes me imagine like if it was the 60’s

The blue trashcan is the color pop. This color makes sense because it makes the subject pop out of the overall image. The composition is well balanced the subject contrasts against the green and sky blue.  The picture has a little over exposure; I would perhaps under expose the image a little bit. This picture looks very whimsical.  Overall, I like this picture and the colors.

The color popping is in the pink. The pink is part of the composition because it makes the converging lines sharper. The composition is balanced; this is observable in the blur of the orange stick against the very sharp lines.  The overall lighting of this picture is bright, however there are some balancing shadows in the corner. I would not change anything of this picture because I really enjoy it.  The image has an enjoyable feeling, overall bright and happy.

The yellow roof is the popping color, with secondary colors in the playground.  The colors do make sense in the composition. The composition is well balanced, because the bottom part of the image has a lot going on while the top portion of the image is quiet. I really love the detail of the moon in the background. The image is well exposed. And the image is light on top and dark on the bottom. I wouldn’t change anything on this image.  This image is fun and makes me want to go to a playground and go on a swing. Overall comment good greens and great moon.
